Because someone threatened to send sex toys by mail if I didn't post a wishlist, here is one. I also have one on ThinkGeek.com (under the email address of my lj name at gmail). XDDD

It is so cold today. I do not want to go out Christmas shopping for the tribe of nieces and nephews (brother and his wife are expecting again, which means my stepsister will HAVE to get pregnant to 'stay ahead' - do not even get me started on that subject, because it is a Rant). No one in this family genuinely NEEDS anything, and I'd much rather do what we did a couple years ago: adopt a family or go as a group and volunteer at the Jesus House to cook and serve food. Seeing how little many people have really makes one appreciate what one has. (And the entitlement children, ie the aforementioned nieces and nephews, could definitely use this reminder...as could their mother. But that, too, is a Rant, and I don't feel like turning into Capslock Hana. XD)

Something wonderful happened on Saturday, but I will not post about it until January 9. ♥

I continue to be addicted to little pixel dragons! These need to gender for me.

We're going to Miami, baby! (Well, 'we' meaning the football team, I think hubby and I are going to stay home this trip. Miami was fun when we went four years ago, but we're not really up for another trip, especially when I have to be in Ft Worth the following Sunday for work.) This is the culmination of a really great year and I'm believing in the absolute best!!

I am so not ready for Christmas. The sheer amount of stuff still to be done is overwhelming, but I keep telling myself I can only take it one thing at a time. Fortunately, we are in a slight lull with work, trying to finish out the projects before the end of the year. I'm already set up to be traveling at least the weeks of Jan 12 and Jan 19. August was my last big out of town job, so I'm due.

I had to drop off a package of paperwork for the IRS last Friday. I thought this would be simple: come in, give it to the security guard as instructed. Oh no, it was not to be. Need photo ID, so I had to run back out to the waiting car for my wallet. Give photo ID, empty pockets, walk through metal detector. Go to IRS lady, explain what I needed. Am given a number, though there is NO ONE ELSE in there. And a survey. Go to window, explain to IRS agent guy there that I'm only dropping off this envelope for a particular agent. After some hem and haw, he takes my package. Then I have to sit down and fill out the survey, then feed the survey into a box. FINALLY, I get to leave. And the government wonders why we hate the IRS and the general bureaucracy associated with anything related to the government. >E

I really, really need some vacation time.

So much to do before leaving town to go to hubby's parents. And my feet are cold today, I do not like impending winter at all.

Hubby is painting again, and this time he's dragged me in. So I may create an art filter. Will do a poll about it, maybe, but if I did, would anyone want in? I am not a realistic painter at all, far more abstract--color and more color. I was extraordinarily frustrated with it at first, because I didn't have something specific in mind to try to paint. It wasn't fun, but he encouraged me to keep going. And the more layers I put together, the better it turned out. I was definitely closer to pleased with my second effort, and I'm excited to get home and work on more.

So tired. Long day, long night, lot of frustration. So tempting to fill tub with hot water and just sleep in there among the jets.

Poor dragon that was cast aside with less than two hours to live. Adopting gave it another day, but it needs unique views badly. Here's hoping!

So, hubby and I are sitting here watching the news and a commercial comes on. It's an ad for some Barry Manilow collection CD. Greatest Songs of the Eighties or some such. He's singing things like "Islands in the Stream" and "Open Arms"...you know, the sorts of things one would expect.

I wasn't prepared to be EPIC RICKROLL'D BY BARRY FUCKING MANILOW.

It's Thursday, week is almost over.

I am an idiot and forgot to renew my domain hosting on time. So I am in a state of suspend until the hosting company realizes that yes, it got my money and can turn the proverbial lights back on.

I swear, my mind is such a garbled mess lately. I'm waiting for it to make sense to me, but all that's resulted in is a lot of mind and a lot of mess. XD But, enough with this mental malaise. Yeah, I'm still around. Life has moments of suck and not-suck, I just haven't felt like posting about anything.

Hatch, lazy egg!

Went to the inaugural game last night and am totally thrilled!

However, until I get to muck with pictures and such, have some dragons.

Method to my madness, there is.

Today has been a day of *whine* and *pain*. Thank you, girlparts. Fortunately, hubby loves me and was good about cooking me food when I wanted it. Near-lethal doses of advil seem to have contained the beast enough for cognitive function.

Man, I want some scrambled eggs this morning. There is nothing quite as good as scrambled eggs and toast on the weekend.

Really had a good time the other night at the wine tasting. Pinot grigio is good, so was riesling. Jenn and hubby liked the shiraz a bit better than the cab sauv; I liked both, perhaps the cab a wee bit more. Which bodes well for liking that Penfolds shiraz-cab we got in Texas. Dekuyper makes this shot mix called Kamikaze Blast that I tried (and then bought). It's tasty, like sweet and sour.

I have just rambled for several sentences about alcohols. My youthful non-drinking self is somewhere in a corner weeping, I'm sure. (My now self who generally is a two-drink maximum is laughing at her unnecessary hysteria.)

Countdown to opening night! The inaugural season of the OKC Thunder!! I am so excited I don't know quite what to do with myself. Got my tickets in the mail, they really look incredible. The organization went all out with the packaging and design. I will have to post up some pictures. We're going to make use of the Ticketmaster email tickets all year to keep our originals intact for posterity.

Having a slightly better day today than yesterday. Still rather irked, though.

Last night I decided that my eyebrows MUST be waxed. Not a problem, I have this honey sugar wax stuff that takes just a few seconds in the microwave. To rip it off requires these thin plastic-like (but made of corn) strips. HOWEVER, that requires scissors, and scissors are like Atlantis in my house: forever lost. Hubby tends to know where they are, but he was already asleep.

So I went in the bedroom to look for them, he grumped at me, I grumped back, because dammit, I wanted to cause myself PAIN. I left to look elsewhere, a few minutes later he got up, went and found some scissors, and presented them to me in his most sullen manner.

So how twisted am I that I was mad at him before, but once he handed over the instrument to help me rip hair from the roots I was clam-happy again? XD

(My brows look verrah nice, by the way.)

Was virtually internetless for a week while in the wilds of SA for a wedding, a rehearsal, more family stuff than I can imagine, and perhaps twenty total minutes of vacation just for us. Recap post when I am not so behind the 8-ball with work and everything.

My Tuesday is a Monday, I want to cry because my hands, elbow, and forearm hurt so bad. And I am so stressed that the season tickets for the Thunder are going to sell out before I get my appointment on Thursday. (Two years as a season ticketholder when the Hornets were here, the best they gave me is four days in. "Irate" doesn't begin to convey things.)

Sending a general "DIAF" towards most everything today.

So so so happy that Roger won today!! ♥!!!! Spent today in Tulsa gathering documents for six or seven upcoming projects. Hubby went with me, so we made a day of it. "It" being working, that is. XD He was a big help, though the reality of having been up at 5:15AM is so catching up with me. Have to watch Special A 22 before bed, though!!

Still stupidly addicted to the Dragon Cave. Trying to get some of mine to grow up, because I have trades to take (and no open spaces on my scroll!). If anyone on the flist has dragon wishes, let me know and I'll give you first crack at what I breed.

Today is a day of third-day period cramps, which are sort of this dull ache from about middle of my rib cage down to my toes. Couple that with a left eye that is extraordinarily unhappy (it's gotten very sensitive to my extended-wear contacts if they aren't taken out overnight) and doesn't want to stay open. Add to the mix the sheer unexcitement of trying to do financials and all I really want to do is go home and sulk and lie down.

But...I stayed up way too late last night watching all of Special A that has been subbed. I am in so much love with this show. It's pushing all of my happy little shoujo buttons. So there's some glee in the midst of all my 'meh'.

In other news, I'm working way too much. I will finish my third report this week today and I'm still catching up from being in Houston all last week. The tropical storm fizzled rather than sizzled, but it was nice to see rain then (it has been so dry here, my little evergreen on my walk is all brown and dead, and I /water/ that thing obsessively).

Hubby's interests have cycled again and the home theater is back up in the small bedroom. I really like what he's done with it, decorating-wise, and he moved the Blu-ray player in there. I'm in awe by how good it makes (certain) movies look. The nicest thing is the satisfaction of having bought many of those discs for around $10. (Pawn shops = awesome place to buy Blu-ray discs!)

Went to Tokyo in Tulsa last weekend with arithion. Had a wonderful time and got a new anime to obsess over. And a plushie black Mokona. How is that not a perfect addition to my pink Haro pillow? XDDDD

So, the Nigerian/Jamaican scammers are trying to get more creative. They called my boss's cellphone (how did they get the number, random dialing?) and are offering him $5.5 million for the low low price of $500, wire transferred. So he's on the phone, playing mind games with them. Ah well, he's passing some time.

Also, I was listening to one of the local sports stations last Friday during my lunch. They were taking calls about a variety of subjects and there was a call that went something like this:

Host #1: And now we'll go to Jake on line 3. Jake?
Phone: *brief silence, then music begins* We're no strangers to love~~
Host #2: What was that?
Host #1: Come on, who calls us and then puts us on hold? Next call.

So, yes, the guys at the station were rickrolled and totally unaware of the fact. I was quite amused.

My fingers hurt. T-T

Or going that way, I think. Work is shaping up to where I may spend the entire month of August away from home. I narrowly avoided having to ditch Tokyo in Tulsa early on Sunday and dash home only to get on a plane. And in the midst of the travel planning for the month-long gig (I have already made eight plane reservations and an equal number of hotel bookings plus three car bookings), another job showed up that has to be squeezed into the same time frame (fortunately also in Houston). So it's rearrange travel plans and shoehorn in personnel so we have both jobs staffed. Between this and a pair of recalcitrant computers, it's a wonder today has left me with any hair.

Our nieces from B-ville stayed with us this weekend. We really had a good time. Kids, for me, are fun when you can play with them, keep them for a couple of days, and send them home. By next year I think they may be ready to stay another day or two, because we never ran out of things to do on this trip and nobody was bored. Mini-golf, museum, water balloon fights, swimming, movies, ordering pizza, cooking lunch - there was a lot of fun had. I think we took about three hundred pictures over the course of two days. (Not that I think anyone on my friends list would ask, but no, still no interest in reproducing here; no amount of wonderful time with nieces or nephew will change that. My biological clock is not only failing to tick, it's permanently broken and flashing 12:00.)

Have played my way through all of the Ace Attorney games, loved them. Am replaying And Justice For All right now (my PW:AA is loaned out, otherwise I'd play it) and having a ball. I've honestly had a lot of things fandom on ignore for a while for a multitude of reasons, not the least of which is this sense of time crunch and urgency that occupies the day when I'm at work and a corresponding sense of 'who the fuck cares' when I get home. Thus, a relative invisibility from my journal and fandom in general. Blah.

The spa was wonderful, by the way. I highly recommend a day out for anyone in need of relaxing. ^.^

Finally get to use birthday present from my dad. Full day of spa + day off work.

Good, good weekend. Spent much of Saturday in Tulsa with hubby and his folks and his grandmother. We went to the Gilcrease Museum, it was my second trip there and it's becoming a favorite. The sheer amount of Remingtons and Russells and Morans has to be seen to be believed. The room with the Morans is especially breathtaking because they are so big and grand. The falls at the Snake River...wow. Especially since he painted that in about...hrm, 1901 or so? The falls apparently don't exist anymore as the river has been dammed, which makes me that much more grateful that their beauty was preserved in his art. Thumbs-up to the Osage restaurant in the museum, I had some amazing chicken stuffed with spinach and a soft cheese and little bits of bacon, served on penne pasta with alfredo sauce. Mmmm~~!

Sunday was doubly special, it was hubby's birthday and arithion's first anniversary. That time last year hubby and yuki_scorpio and flamesword and I were watching a wonderful wedding. I can't believe it's been a year. Ah, but we had brunch at the Cheesecake Factory, did a little shopping, made our pilgrimage to the houses for sale we dream of owning, came home and did some laundry, had some of my family over (with presents for the birthday boy), and spent time with the kitties. All in all a fitting way to celebrate his day.

Am somewhere between ashamed and thrilled to admit that I've owned a Blackberry for about five months now and only TODAY did I land myself at Crackberry.com. I have been a ringtone-downloading, wallpaper-making, theme-hunting madwoman. Current wallpaper is one of my favorite Bleach fanarts, and I'm debating who in my address book I should tag with the Wicked Witch theme (from the Wizard of Oz) ringtone. Need to find someone with a good version of the ESPN theme, for no other ringtone will do for my brother. XD Seriously, if anyone has a Blackberry, I recommend this place. There are tips and tricks like crazy, not to mention free goodies and discounts on accessories, etc. I know I could really begin to obsess over mine if I spent a lot of time there.

Wishing like mad I was with Pez and Liz and Nori and Unni right now. ♥!!! I expect lots of stories and fun and consolation presents! T-T
